This month’s guest experts include: Couture Bridal Gown designer Jenifer Dule of Jennifer Dule Couture, Kerri Berman, a highly acclaimed makeup artist in Manhattan and Jessica Meyer, member and founder of Venus Ensembles.

“This is a chance for brides to talk with others who are going through the same experience,” says Arlene Cronk. “They can share tips and insights about picking vendors, maintaining balance, staying within budget — it is a totally open agenda. At the same time, brides gain valuable advice from top wedding professionals. New York offers brides lots of choices, which makes planning a wedding very exciting. But it can also be very overwhelming, particularly when many brides already lead demanding lives. The Bridal Survival Club will help the bride cope with the many issues that inevitably arise in planning a wedding.”

Rev. Laurie Sue Brockway adds, “The Bridal Survival Club also gives brides a chance to gather in a ‘safe space’ where they can share a spectrum of emotional challenges that come with the territory of planning a wedding. They find comfort and stress relief sharing their stories with people who truly understand what they are going through. It’s also fun! We laugh a lot and can also find humor in some of the wedding dramas that arise.”

Monthly meetings take place each month at select New York City wedding venues; refreshments will be served. All brides-to-be are welcome to attend.

Valentine’s Day Gifts Now Available from Niki Owl

(PRWEB) February 4, 2005

Niki Owl™ continues to expand its product range and now is happy to announce new items for Valentine’s Day.

History of Valentine’s Day:

The origin of Valentine’s Day is still a mystery, with most research pointing to both Christian and ancient Roman traditions. The Catholic Church currently recognizes at least three different saints by the name of Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred.

One legend holds that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome, and upon defiance of Emperor Claudius II (who outlawed marriage after deciding that single men made better soldiers than those who were married and had families), performed secret marriages for young lovers. When this was discovered, Claudius ordered that Valentine be put to death.

According to another legend, Valentine sent the first ‘valentine’ greeting himself, to a young woman that visited him in jail during his confinement. Before his death, it is believed that he wrote her a letter, which he signed ‘From your Valentine,’ an expression that is still widely used today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is obscure, these stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and romantic figure, becoming one of the most popular saints in England and France by the Middle Ages.

Niki Owl™ is featured on a variety of original handmade greeting cards and handmade gifts and home decorations, which are available on http://www.nikiowl.com. New Web Site Offers Electronic Almanac of Massachusetts History

Boston, MA (PRWEB) February 5, 2005

http://www.massmoments.org It’s well documented that American students have long performed poorly on tests designed to measure their knowledge of past events. But it’s not just students who display an ignorance of history. The general adult population is, perhaps, even less informed about our nation’s history. In an effort to engage people of all ages in times past, the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities, with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities’ “We the People” initiative, has launched the Mass Moments project. An “electronic almanac” of Massachusetts history, Mass Moments sparks the imagination of Internet users of all ages with a daily story about the people, places, and events that make Massachusetts history so rich.

The comprehensive website http://www.massmoments.org includes a story for every day of the year, in both text and audio formats, background essays, primary sources, images, links, and more. A new “moment” will appear every day in 2005. Past moments are searchable by date, topic, region, and time period. In addition, Mass Moments audio spots can be heard on select radio stations throughout the state. Visitors to the site can also sign up for a free subscription to receive the daily “moment” by e-mail.

“This is an exciting opportunity for the students and citizens of Massachusetts to become more engaged in the history of our state,” says Ellen K. Rothman, associate director for the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities and executive producer of the Mass Moments project. “Our goal is for both adults and children to realize what we at the Foundation deeply believe and already know: that history can be fun when told as stories about real people and places.”

Upcoming moments of interest include:

February 9th: W.G. Morgan invents the game of volleyball at the YMCA in Holyoke in 1895.

February 14th: First Valentine is sold in Worcester in 1849.

February 28th: Ransom note arrives for bonds stolen from Northampton bank in 1879, the biggest bank robbery in U.S. history.

March 27th: Jordan Marsh announces it will build in downtown Boston “the greatest department store in the world” in 1947.

March 29th: Louisa May Alcott and 19 other women cast first votes at Concord Town meeting in 1880.

To receive these and other Mass Moments via e-mail, visit http://www.massmoments.org and click on “Subscribe to eMoments.”

InstaSong.com Helps Thousands of Web Surfers Get Nasty for Valentine’s Day

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 6, 2005

This Valentine’s Day season there’s a new way to lovingly mock the ones you love…this according to Mark Baker, founder and President of InstaSong.com (http://instasong.com/servlets/InstaSong). “Amazingly,” says Baker, “About half the people who use InstaSong.com create ‘prank’ songs making fun of a friend or loved one!”

The process works like this: Visitors to InstaSong.com choose the song type they want; (romantic or funny Valentine’s Day songs, Mother’s Day songs, birthday songs, etc.,) and they then personalize the songs with names, dates, physical attributes and individual habits until the song is completely personalized. They can then preview their creation for free, and if satisfied with the results, they pay $ 4.95 to email the song to their chosen recipient.

This past Christmas, about 500,000 people created and sent instant personalized Christmas songs…but not the “sweet” ones you’d expect:

• About 250,000 people chose to make “insulting” Christmas songs, making fun of their friends’ personal habits, dress styles, and other foibles.

• About 100,000 people sent romantic personalized Christmas songs.

• About 150,000 people sent songs of friendship and support.

The trend looks like it’s going to continue this Valentine’s Day season.

At first, InstaSong.com offered only romantic and uplifting material, but now that they’ve gone to the “dark side,” usership numbers have soared.

While each song is generated instantly using the unique attributes selected by the user, each song is professionally produced, featuring full musical accompaniment and background singers. Featured singers include professional vocalists heard on the radio: the male vocalist had a massive hit singing the Sergio Mendes song, “I’m Never Gonna Let You Go.”

Baker says that he is constantly amazed by the feedback they get from customers: “People generally send us positive feedback, but occasionally they’re not so nice. For example, one gentleman created a romantic song dedicated to Judy and sent it to his wife. This caused a problem, since his wife’s name was Sarah…we received a very nasty email about that one! The moral of the story is, if you send an InstaSong, please be sure and double-check the email address!”

So, if you’re sure you know where to send the song, and you’re feeling a little mischievous this Valentine’s Day (or a little romantic), you can try creating your own instantly personalized masterpiece at http://www.InstaSong.com.

About instasong.com

An online division of the popular GiftSongs.com, InstaSong.com uses the patented eClips TrueVoice™ Technology to deliver professionally produced, personalized songs via email to users worldwide. Incorporating a database of hundreds of thousands of high-quality audio samples, users are able to personalize their songs in real-time using pre-recorded audio samples recorded by some of the top professional vocalists in the Los Angeles area.

Alone on Valentine’s Day – Join the Club

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) February 7, 2005

For 364 days out of the year, the state of being single is a constant yet somewhat subdued modality for the 100 or so million single people out there. It’s on this one day of the year when all those happy couples are out there cavorting in their platonic bliss, that the remainder of us have to make up for all this happiness, by being strangely sardonic and depressed.

According to the 2000 census, 45% (100.7 million) of all Americans are single (non-married). If the popularity of online dating sites is any indication (50 million active subscribers – over 50% of eligible singles), one thing is for certain: there are a whole lot of single people out there looking for something. But what are they really looking for?

After years of trying to find a date using traditional methods, and months of fruitless searches using the available online dating services, one man was so fed up with the ineptitude of these services, and his lack of feminine companionship, that he has created an entire website community dedicated to the singular purpose of finding himself a date.

Singles looking for love or those with time and talent to spare are invited to share in one man’s journey as he navigates the single scene in search of love.

Read about his adventures, participate in a user driven forum, or just learn what not to do in the search for a date. It truly is “the most unique site on the internet for your date, dating, and dateless needs.”

About Imdateless.Com

Imdateless.Com was founded with one purpose in mind, and that was to find its founder a date. Its companion website serves as the Mecca of information where you can find updated stories and events as the author scours the countryside for dates and maybe even love. The web site author is a current student at the University of Central Florida and is still looking for a date.

The Heartbreak of LHS (Lazy Husband Syndrome)

(PRWEB) February 9, 2005

“Today millions of American men are suffering from an undiagnosed disease called LHS. LHS (Lazy Husband Syndrome) can, by some accounts, affect 9 out of 10 married men.” So says Kevin Carroll, an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of LHS and himself a victim of the disease.

Carroll says that LHS is present in millions of middle-aged males, yet can go undetected for years. Symptoms include: inability to bend down to pick up anything, severe myopia to household chores, cramping when asked to put away clothes, and headaches and nausea when having to vacuum or sweep. Men as young as 25 can get LHS.

Carroll says, “LHS is an insidious disease. It sneaks up on you. Slowly. You barely know it’s happening, but those around you (particularly your wife) can see it. Then one day it owns you. We call it the quiet killer.” Carroll is also the national director of a grassroots organization called COUCH, (Citizens Outraged Over Male Listlessness). Carroll admits that the acronym COUCH doesn’t really work with the name, but says the group was too lazy to find one that would.

Happy Valentine’s Day: Chocolate and Love/Aphrodisiac Tips and Recipes from Sensual Cooking Diva, Shani Castri

(PRWEB) February 9, 2005

This Month’s Aphrodisiac is Chocolate:

Chocolate, ooh the queen of temptation. Chocolate tempts us with its rich, luscious flavor, its thick creamy texture and its power to soothe our minds. It is for some a “gift from Mother Earth”- her creation that has over 1,000 flavor components and 300 chemicals which affect brain chemistry and mood. Chocolate has been the “Diva” of Aphrodisiacs since its first use over 3,000 years ago in the Mexican state of Vera Cruz. Montezuma would drink 50 goblets of “chocolate water” a day to give him the potency to handle his harem of more than 600 women.

How does it work? Chocolate affects the central nervous system, thanks to Anandamine, (a neurotransmitter or brain chemical) this chemical heightens sensory perception, increases relaxation and produces a feeling of euphoria. In addition, other chemicals extend this high and also increase the levels of dopamine (lovely little chemical that elevates the mood and increases sexual arousal and response).

So many chocolates and such little time…As most things in life, the best are the most simple. The mind blowing chocolates are the one’s with a high cocoa content (these are rarely found at the deli), the good stuff, has a deeper flavor, smoother texture and a lot less sugar!

I suggest, ordering some fabulous chocolates (maybe with cocoa beans from various countries), turning down the lights, turn up the heat, light a chocolate candle, take your loved one and blindfold them and share with them these amazing goodies, savor each bite as it slowly dissolves in your mouth and discover which types you and they most enjoy. Now that your senses are heightened, feel free to run a feather or fur scarf over their body and don’t forget the Brachetto d’Aqui to wash it all down.

8 Ways to Enjoy Chocolate

Mental:

1. Read “The Bride wore Chocolate” by Shirley Jump

This is fun tale that begins three weeks before Candice’s wedding. She blatantly ignores the signs sent by the universe; thinks nothing of the fact that the DJ has a heart attack, the priest runs off with the church secretary and a fire burns her wedding gown to a crisp. Even blinded to these hints, she is also sent a good-looking, carefree, sexy Michael Volgner to help her see that Boring Barry is not her soul mate and that he just might be. Candace is three weeks from the big day and must deal with her mother-in-law-to-be, her own mother, her friends and their “Baskets to die For” company, Mr. Wonderful and her grandmother that is concerned that she finds her real soul mate. With so many questions in mind, one answer is for sure- it can all be cured by CHOCOLATE! Thanks to Candace, the book is filled with luscious recipes.

2. Rent “Like water for Chocolate” Director Alfonso Arau, adapting a novel by his former wife, Laura Esquivel

This is a beautiful story of a young woman, Tita. Her evil mother denies her from her true love, Pedro. The selfish mother goes so far as to arrange the marriage of Tita’s sister, Rosaura, to Pedro, thus allowing Tita to live a spinsters’ life free to take care of her mother forever. Tita’s only release and outlet for her emotions is through cooking. As she prepares every meal for her family, the feelings she secretly holds inside are magically released into the food she makes. Her love, her pain and her desire is evident in every delightful and decadent dish she creates, and ultimately her feelings manifest themselves in those who enjoy her meals.

The film is fabulous, rich and sultry. It will inspire you to put your feelings and desires into your next meal and to reap the sumptuous rewards that follow. (minus the psycho mother). It has a much more seductive feel when watched in the original Spanish with English subtitles- (I’m a sucker for an accent!)
